The Plantar Test (Hargreaves Test) is a well-established experimental method, widelyemployed in rodents to assess thermal nociception and hyperalgesia in rodents. Theplantar test has been widely used in the experiments involving, pain sensitization,hyperalgesia or recovery of thermal pain response following neural injury andregeneration. First described by Hargreaves et al. (1988), the method has become astandard in pain research due to its accuracy & non-invasive design. In this test, acontrolled infrared heat stimulus generated by a focused light source is appliedthrough a glass pane to the plantar surface of the hind paw. When the stimulusreaches a threshold perceived as painful, the animal exhibits a paw withdrawal reflex.The system automatically records the paw withdrawal latency in seconds, along withstimulus intensity, providing an accurate and objective measure of pain sensitivity.

The small animal euthanasia system adopts the method of carbon dioxide hypoxia to kill, which can effectively reduce the pain and suffering of experimental animals compared with cruel methods such as decapitation and bloodletting.

The Euthatox Tabletop Auto CO2 System is an advanced automated euthanasia unit that has been developed specifically for euthanizing small rodents. The system incorporates three key components, the Controller, Chamber and exhaust system. The system works with preset timings that assure humane and efficient levels of CO2.

The Euthatox automates a three-stage euthanasia cycle at the push of a button: charging, dwell time, and exhaust. The clear polycarbonate front and top windows provide visibility while the top-loading lid offers easy cage access. Airtight, gasket-sealed door prevents gas leakage during operation. The manifold design ensures even gas distribution. The system includes the mobile cart for ergonomic height when loading and unloading cages. Color-touch PLC screen allows easy operation.
